Yesterday, August 8, 2018, the Maritime Museum of Ílhavo (MMI) celebrated 81 Springs. Founded in 1937, after a long process of gestation, it is a museum of the Municipality of Ílhavo that now inhabits a building of modern architecture and its mission is to celebrate the memory of work at sea and to promote the culture and maritime identity of the Portuguese. 81 years after its foundation, it counts not only with the ship-museum Santo André but also with a fantastic Aquarium of “Bacalhaus” (codfish) that makes the delight of the visitors. Museum, Aquarium and Research summarize the current Museum, which Sentir Aveiro congratulates today.
As a celebration, the Museum yesterday was opened, with special guided tours and various activities. If you no longer have time to enjoy the special anniversary program, do not worry: on 12 August, both the MMI and the Santo André Ship Museum will be free of charge and open to the public between 2 pm and 6 pm.
With Sentir Aveiro, you can travel in time and space inside the Museum with the tour “Sentir Ílhavo” https://sentiraveiro.pt/tour/sentir-ilhavo/.
Do not waste time and make the summer days full of culture.
