The “Ria de Aveiro” was formed in the 16th century, as a result of a retreat from the sea and later, a formation of coastal cords that gave rise to a lagoon. This is how one of the most important and largest geographical features of the Portuguese coast was born.
At a time when sustainability is king, nothing better than embarking on a sustainable tour integrated with nature, as well as in intimate contact with the “Ria de Aveiro”.
Sterna offers a wide range of unique experiences in the “Ria de Aveiro”, showing its natural beauty and great biodiversity along the more than 200km navigable. The boat “Gaivinha” is 100% silent, ecological, with cutting-edge technology and powered only by solar energy, allowing a pure and relaxing contact with the “wild” Ria and its biodiversity.

There are two routes available daily, and the possibility of making your own tour, subject to budget and availability. These tours are selected and subject to tides and weather forecasts.
There are a tour experience from 45 to 60 minutes and another from 90 to 120 minutes, depending on your availability and willingness to explore our “Ria de Aveiro”!
Available routes:
Two Waters Experience – Navigation from 45 to 60 minutes.
Minimum: 6 people (with the possibility of joining a smaller number of people to another reservation for the same day/time)
Esteiros Experience – Navigation from 90 to 120 minutes – this route includes tasting of sparkling wine, “ovos moles”, “raivas” and seasonal fruit on board.
Minimum: 4 people (with the possibility of joining a smaller number of people to another reservation for the same day/time)
The activity can be done in Portuguese, English, Spanish or French speaking guide.
Book as soon as possible to guarantee availability, especially during public holidays and festivities. If there are still places available, you can book until the previous day (local time in Aveiro).
Booking: After your booking submission you will receive an email with the confirmation. After our team confirm the availability you’ll receive another email to make the payment. You can also follow your booking status directly on your dashboard.
Payment: The payment will only be available after the confirmation of the availability. We accept online & bank transfer payments. You can make the full payment or 50% before the activity and 50% in the day.
No (not suitable for people with reduced mobility).
Free! Free cancellation up to 48 hours before the activity starts. If you cancel under this time or do not show up, you will not be refunded. On the other hand, if you don’t make the payment until 48h before the activity starts, it will be automatically cancelled.
