The gastronomic festival of our “Ria de Aveiro” started last Saturday, March 29th, and will only end on May 4th, right in the perfect season to enjoy everything that our laggoon has to offer. “But what is this festival?” you may ask. Well, this festival is about savoring the delicious products of the ria, such as “crico” (or cockle), “navalha” (razor clam), choco (cuttlefish), clam, mussel, or oyster, at participating cafés and restaurants in the municipality of Ílhavo.

As a safety measure, after being harvested, the bivalves are purified and only then sold to nearby markets, ensuring all their freshness and sea breeze. Shortly after, they arrive at restaurants, tapas bars, and cafés, still alive, and of course, with the best quality.
To celebrate this biological and culinary heritage, the “Vamos aos Cricos” festival is a great way to taste, eat, and indulge in these products from our “ria”.
